Anyways, because of all this he was GREAT at bouce spot. He didn't hesitate to climb and explore all the giant bounce houses. The first time Brady went here he was about 18 months and was scared out of his mind to try anything for about 20 minutes and then would only go down the slide if I was right there with him. It is fun to see the differences in the boys.
We came home opened presents and then let Max have another try at the cake. He tasted it once and then didn't eat another bite! CRAZY! Don't worry though... Brady was there to eat the cake for him :) We now know who has the sweet tooth in the family. Max did however LOVE to throw it and fling the cake all over the place. We got max an indoor trampoline (from a garage sale) and some new bath toys. Brady gave Max a mini turtle pillow pet we named Sam. Thanks nana and papa and grandman and grandpa for the gifts you guys sent to Max!! Here are a couple videos and pictures of Max's special day:
Height : 33 inches - 98% (off the growth chart the doc says)
Weight: 24.5 lbs - 80%
Head: 75th%
I'm still nursing him so he hasn't yet switched to whole milk.
At 1 year here are some of the things Max does and things he loves:
- walking (started just after 11 mo)
- says dada and mama
- give high fives (started at 10.5 mo)
- CLIMBS! he loves to climb and explore. He can get up on the couch and porch swing all by himself.
- exploring, he is so so curious and could just explore and find new things to touch and eat all day
- blankie - He LOVES his blankie. The moment he touches it his thumb goes in his mouth and he rests his head down, it really is super cute.
- clapping (started around 10mo)
- pointing, he is figuring out pointing at things
- shoes, he loves having his shoes on. If he sees his shoes on the ground he will go over and try to put his foot in the shoe.
- Brady - he LOVES his big brother. He looks around for him and wants to play with him and trys to do everything that Brady does.
- puts EVERYTHING in his mouth! Now, I know all babies put lots of stuff in their mouths.. but usually at this point they don't shove everything they touch in their mouths. Max still does. Seriously, every single thing he touches he puts in his mouth. He doesn't try to swallow most things he just chews on them, I guess he is just exporing the world with his mouth :)
- still not a great sleeper - Will sleep about 10 hours at night then wake up and after I soothe him will go back to sleep for another 1-2 hours. His naps are kind of all over the place. I try to be scheduled with them but he just doesn't seem to be that way. Each day is always slightly different than the day before.
- snuggly - He is a snuggler. Just this morning he came up to me and started sucking his thumb and just wanted me to hold him and snuggle. I Love it!
- He has much more of an opinion at this point than I remember Brady having. Max will cry so hard because he is angry for some reason, and he will usually let me know loud and clear when he doesn't want to do something.
- not a reader - yet at least. I have a hard time reading books to Max because all he wants to do is grab it and chew on the corner of the spine or eat the pages.. ahh.. so we don't really read a ton.
- Tough - Max is one tough cookie. Maybe it has to do with having Brady as an older brother but, I am amazed at how much I think he is going to cry or be hurt becasue he was knocked over or fell but nope he is just playing and keeps going on.
- Wrestling - he will walk over to brady grab him and pull him down to the ground so they can wrestle. oh he squeels because he is having so much fun.
- free falling - whenever he sees a blanket or something that seems like it might be soft he full on just free falls onto it. It is hilarious to watch! he's been hurt a few times b/c the blankie was on the tile floor, but without a doubt, if he sees a pillow, cushion, pile of blankets, etc. he will go over and just free fall on it.
- fearless. Max really isn't scared of many things. He just sees something and goes after it without hesitating to think it may be scary or dangerous.
Max you truly have a sweet demeanor about you. You are a happy little guy and have brought so much joy to our family. I am blessed to be your mom. You are growing up so fast I just want it to slow down so I can really savor and remember all the sweet things you do each day. I love you!
