Stringing your tennis racket

Are you doing everything exactly the same way with your new racket that you did with your old one, but can not seem to figure out why your shot is off?

You probably need to get your racket re-strung. The size of your racket greatly impacts how you should string it. Racket head sizes generally fall into these three categories: Midsize (85-95 square inches), Mid-Plus (95-105 square inches), and Oversize (greater than 105 square inches).

As the head size of the racket increases the tension of the strings should also increase so that you feel the same results and playability you would feel with a smaller racket.

As you decrease the size of your racket you should also reduce the tension of the strings. One more thing to remember, the tension of your strings will have an effect on the power and control of a racket.

Lower tensions provide more control but limit the power of your shot. So, if you are a beginner start with a lower tension, if you are a skilled player and generally hit fairly hard, I recommend you string your racket with a little more tension.
